CLEMSON FOOTBALL GETS A SURPRISE VISIT FROM JOEY LOGANO
Ajay Allen - August 19, 2025
Cup Series champion Joey Logano made a surprise appearance at the Clemson Tigers football team’s fall camp on Tuesday, purely for the love of the game and under the assumption that he happened to be in town with Team Penske. Without any official reason, Logano arrived at the Clemson facility in his signature No. 22 car and performed a burnout that had players cheering and chanting “Joey! Joey! Joey!”
Clemson’s official message on X (formerly Twitter) captured the moment, stating, “Always great to have another champion in the building,” as Logano joined the squad outside of his car.
Members of NASCAR’s Team Penske, including Michael Nelson, President of NASCAR Operations and a Clemson alumnus, and former Tigers cornerback Sheridan Jones, who now works on the Penske pit crew, joined Logano during the visit. Players and coaches jumped in on hands on demonstrations, taking part in pit stop drills like changing tires and operating a jack on Logano’s No. 22 machine with guidance from the crew.
The visit highlighted the shared love of competition between football and racing. Clemson athletes have even drawn interest from NASCAR scouts, showing that Tiger skills can translate beyond the field. His surprise visit added a spark of fun to camp and left the Tigers energized as they turned their focus to opening the season. Clemson will kick off the 2025 campaign on Saturday, August 30, at 7:30 p.m. ET, hosting No. 9 LSU at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina. Fans can expect a charged atmosphere as the Tigers aim to start the season strong in this high-profile matchup.
