FIELD RUSH AND IDAHO FOOTBALL UNVEIL “FIGHTIN’ TATERS” HELMETS
Ajay Allen - September 1, 2025
The Field Rush is proud to announce a special partnership with the University of Idaho football program as the Vandals will debut "Fightin’ Taters" helmets in their home opener against St. Thomas.
The alternate look will be worn in a game presented by the Idaho Potato Commission, making this weekend a memorable moment for us here at The Field Rush and the Idaho football program.
The design was created by The Field Rush’s creative director and graphic designer, Kyle Little, whose work has helped shape the visual identity of our platform.
For Little, the chance to see his idea come to life on a college football helmet is a milestone. “It’s pretty surreal to have a college football team take my design and make it a reality,” he said.
The concept started as a playful experiment. “It was just something I randomly had thought of, and they took a liking to it,” Little explained. “What’s funnier than a tater? And Idaho is known for potatoes.” What began as a lighthearted design has turned into a full brand identity that fans will see on the field and in merchandise this weekend.
Saturday’s game will also feature the Idaho Potato Commission’s 70 foot Big Potato Truck outside the Kibbie Dome, along with appearances by their mascot Spuddy Buddy. Fans will be able to purchase Fightin’ Taters shirts, bringing the logo to the fans as well.
Both Kyle Little and Brennan McKellar from The Field Rush will be in attendance at the game. Fans are welcome to come say hello, and we’d love to meet as many Vandals supporters as possible throughout the day. The Field Rush thrives on engaging with our community, and this weekend is a chance to share the excitement in person.
For The Field Rush, this collaboration reflects the kind of creative energy we aim to bring to college football. Partnering with a program like Idaho on a helmet design is rare, some may argue, unheard of. Seeing it embraced by both the team and its supporters highlights the power of blending fan culture with the sport itself.
The Field Rush is excited to share this moment with Idaho football and to celebrate alongside Vandal fans this weekend.
